PAID PRINTED OBITUARIES Robert Carl Lahmann May 22, 1944 ~ February 26, 2019 Robert Carl Lahmann, 74, long-time resident of Washougal, passed away on February 26, 2019, after a year and a half of a heroic battle with cancer. Born the eldest of three boys to Frank and Nellie Lahmann in The Dalles, Oregon, on May 22, 1944. Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Lani; mother, Nellie; brothers, Tom (Kathy) and Bill (Mickey); daughter, Jenna Lahmann Gillespie (Tarleton); son, Ryan (Elizabeth); and five grandchildren — Jonas and Cleo Gillespie; Elaina, Audrey, and Caroline Lahmann. Bob graduated valedictorian at Stevenson High School in 1962 before earning electrical engineering and law degrees from the University of Washington. Following college, Bob served as a captain in the US Air Force for four years before practicing law in Camas for nine years. Bob then went on to a distinguished 21-year career with Bonneville Power Administration before retiring in 2005. Bob was a fixture at his children’s sporting events over the years. Time spent with family was his top priority. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed all types of Pacific Northwest fishing and hunting. He liked working in his shop on mechanical, electrical, and woodworking projects. He was a quiet, kind, and honorable man. Bev Howard July 19, 1932 ~ February 24, 2019 Bev Howard, 86, a longtime resident of Camas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 24th, with family by her side. The daughter of Seymour and Marjorie Howard, Bev was born on July 19th, 1932, in Port Angeles, WA. She moved to Camas at an early age and graduated from high school in 1950. She was very active in cheerleading, choir and band. Bev began her work career as a key punch operator, working for the Crown Zellerbach Corporation, programing early computing systems. She held various sales positions and was employed by Bogel & Gates Law as an accounts manager. But her true and lifelong passions were cooking and entertaining. She was the consummate hostess. She created, operated and managed five restaurants in various locations around Washington. She loved to prepare food and cater parties. She was totally in her element when planning special events for family, friends and community affairs. She was very generous and provided meals and comfort to many families and individuals that were in need of care and support. Bev married Howard Lorenz in 1951 and together they raised three children: Linda (Steve) Stoller, Karen Lewis, and Steve (Kris) Lorenz; beloved grandchildren: Courtney Roberts, Collin Stoller, Shaun Lewis, Malia Lewis and Joseph Lorenz. Of special joy were great- grandchildren Delaney, Aiden, Jack, Tatum, Ben and Gabe. She married John Horning in 1978 and they enjoyed many years living on Bainbridge Island and Hood Canal. They both loved the majestic beauty of Puget Sound and their daily ferry commute to work in Seattle. Bev had an unconditional love for her children and was a second mom to many of their friends. Her hobbies included foraging mushrooms, boating, gardening, painting, entertaining and was an accomplished pianist. She loved her “Cays Cousins” and spending time on the Olympic Peninsula with family. Her motto, handed down by her father, was: Work Hard - Play Hard. Bev was always true to this motto. She is survived by her sister, Gwen Rosbach, of Port Townsend, WA. A special thank you goes to the staff at the Touchmark Devonshire, for their compassionate and loving care given to Bev this past year. A family graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 18th, at 11:00 AM at the Dungeness Cemetery, 2153 Lotzgesell Rd, Sequim, WA. A reception to follow at the Cedars at Dungeness golf course. Read the following complete obituaries in the March 7 print edition of the Post-Record. Joanne Thomas Joanne Thomas died Feb. 5, 2019, in Vancouver. She was 78. Joanne was born July 5, 1940, in Portland. She lived the past 60 years in the Camas-Washougal area. Joanne retired from banking specifically in the credit card fraud department. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, in Camas, and The Secular Order of the Servants of Mary. Joanne was an accomplished pianist, loved opera, wrote poetry and was passionate about animals, especially the dogs she owned through the years. She returned to college later in life attending Clark College and Washington State University-Vancouver, where she graduated at age 60 with a bachelor’s degree in geriatric social work. She was very proud of her 4.0 GPA. She enjoyed playing piano for worship services at Highland Terrace, now known as Prestige Rehabilitation Center, and serving communion to residents and patients. She is preceded in death by husband, George Thomas, and step-grandchildren, Lynn Troop and Jeff Troop. Joanne is survived by stepchildren, Robert Birt, of Camas, Lynn Halvorson, of Washougal, Pat (Jim) Carlson, of Castle Rock, Washington, Allen (Sherrie) Thomas, of Vancouver, Karen (Rick) Law, of LaConner, Washington; and Delores Leskinovitch of Goldendale, Washington. Funeral service will be noon, Friday, March 15, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 324 N.E. Oak St., Camas. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Southwest Washington Humane Society. Marilyn R. Mall Brownlee Former Camas resident Marilyn Rae Mall Brownlee, of Park Hills, Missouri, died Nov. 12, 2018. She was 72. Karen J. Stroope Karen Jean Stroope died Jan. 27, 2019, in Vancouver. She was 74. A memorial service will be held at noon, Friday, March 22, at Gateway Community Church, 1235 “E” St., Washougal.
