Second Story Gallery Society Board of Governors member Ulrike Halverson works meticulously to hang the fiber art pieces that are part of this month's show at the Second Story Gallery at the Camas Public Library. Also part of the effort were Tulla Burke, Mary Alice Pfeifer and Joel Emanuel. "We have a lot of fun," Halverson said.
Tulla Burke jokes with fellow volunteers as they work to set up "What's Blue to You?" A show featuring the work of High Fiber Diet," a group of fiber artists from both sides of the Columbia River. They meet and devise a challenge each year that gives them strict boundaries--such as size or color--and wide interpretation. Their work is juried before sending it out into the world.
"Blue Ewe," is a fiber art panel created by Pamela Pilcher. It is on display at the Second Story Gallery as part of the September show, "What's Blue to You?"
Eleven months out of each year, the unique creations of local artists decorate the walls of the Second Story Gallery, upstairs inside the Camas Public Library.
Mediums vary wildly across the spectrum — watercolors on yupo paper, cement, oils on canvas, landscape and architectural photography, fiber arts and wood sculpture, as well as mixed media work that experiments with textures, colors, patterns and materials.
