Quinn raises her arms in victory after crossing the finish line of Ironman Wisconsin in September 2010. She was severely injured in a bicycling accident this past summer, which resulted in an incomplete spinal cord injury. At first, doctors did not know if she would be able to walk again.
Grable qualified for the Boston Marathon by running a 3:45:43 marathon in December, beating the qualifying time by 10 minutes.
Grable and Quinn have done many workouts together in preparation for triathlons. Here, they pose at the entrance to the Heritage Trail at Lacamas Lake in Camas, a popular running spot.

When Sondra Grable made it to mile 18 of the California International Marathon, she felt done. Grable had been slogging through a series of storms which had dumped 3 to 6 inches of rain in 24 hours. Severe winds rocked the area, making it extremely difficult to move forward.
